(BENEDICTUS IMAGES HUNG WITH MODERN AGATA OSTROWSKA MONOPRINT - STUNNING COMBINATION!)
EDOUARD BENEDICTUS (1879-1930) WAS A MULTI-TALENTED FRENCH TEXTILE
DESIGNER AND ARTIST WHO PRODUCED THIS BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION OF DESIGNS.
THE POCHOIR PROCESS OF COLOURING PRINTS INVOLVED STENCILS THAT WERE LAID
ON THE PAPER AND HAND FILLED WITH A PAINTED SOAKED BRUSH. EACH COLOUR HAD
ITS OWN STENCIL. THE RESULT OF WHICH IS THE BEAUTIFUL BUILDUP OF COLOURS
THAT IS TYPICAL OF THIS PROCESS. THIS IS THE SAME PROCESS AS THE SEGUY AND CHARLET
SERIES.
BENEDICTUS DREW UPON THE INCUMBENT ART DECO STYLES FOR INSPIRATION IN DESIGNING
HIS PRINTS. GEOMETRICS ARE COMMON AS WELL AS CUBIST INSPIRED FLOWER HEADS
AND DECONSTRUCTED ANIMALS. THE COLOURS ARE VIBRANT AND MANY PRINTS ARE HIGHLIGHTED
WITH GOLD AND SILVER PAINTS. ALL MADE FOR A BRILLIANT DISPLAY OF HIS ARTISTIC
GENIUS.
THESE PRINTS ARE 14.5" X 19" HIGH QUALITY POCHOIRS PRINTED ONTO CARD STOCK
HAND LAID PAPER, EACH PRINT PRICED AT $650.
EACH PRINT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION EXCEPT FOR PLATE 9 WHICH HAS A NEAR
INVISIBLE TEAR AT THE BOTTOM MIDDLE
